Concerns have emerged over a sudden wave of visa rejections targeting Kenyan passport holders seeking to travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Several applicants have reported having their visa requests denied, sparking confusion and frustration among families and travel agents.
The problem, according to several travel agencies, appears to have started about a week ago and is largely affecting 30 and 60-day tourist visa applications submitted by male travellers under 40 years.
While older applicants have had their requests processed successfully, the silence from UAE immigration authorities has left agents struggling to respond to growing pressure from their clients.
In a public update on Thursday, Shalom Africa Destinations also raised the issue, noting that the UAE had imposed temporary visa restrictions on Kenyan and Sri Lankan passport holders.
“We would like to inform you that there is currently a temporary restriction by UAE immigration authorities on visa applications for Kenyan and Sri Lankan passport holders,” the agency said in a Facebook post.
“Applicants aged above 40 years are more likely to receive approvals under the current guidelines. To avoid unnecessary risks and processing issues, we kindly request that you understand this situation well before submitting any visa applications to us.”

A tragic incident involving a couple who had been together for a while has left their neighbours reeling in shock.

A man identified as Isaac Kamaja is accused of killing his wife, Rebecca John, by beating her and then burying her body.

The accused reportedly buried the deceased in a toilet pit to cover up evidence of the heartbreaking incident.

The tragedy occurred on the night of Sunday, June 29, with the core issue allegedly being a suspected love triangle.

According to neighbour Agnes Mwaluko, Rebecca was found having cosy moments with another man, which triggered the violent act.

Where does Kamaja hail from?

When Kamaja found his wife with the other man, he reportedly rushed to grab a shovel handle, intending to hit the man.

However, in the process, Kamaja, who is from Tanzania, ended up striking his wife instead, leading to her unfortunate death.

“A couple of days earlier, the couple and I had shared some alcoholic drinks for about an hour before I left them—Rebecca and Kamaja.

“The next day, Kamaja came to my business place for another drink. We didn’t talk much. He later returned and asked for another drink,” Mwaluko shared.

She said that on the following day, when she returned from her farm around 9am, she found police cars and officers surrounding Kamaja’s compound.

“I wondered what was going on. That’s when I saw Kamaja surrounded by police in his compound,” Mwaluko added.

The neighbour noted that the couple often had quarrels, and she suspected that Kamaja had killed his wife after an intense argument.

How did police find that Kamaja allegedly killed his wife?

She also revealed that after allegedly killing his wife, Kamaja immediately alerted the police, claiming his wife was missing.

“When the police came, they launched an investigation and eventually discovered that his wife had been murdered.

“They found the blunt object he used to hit her and uncovered the location where Rebecca had been buried,” she added.

The incident deeply angered and saddened locals, who are now demanding justice for one of their own.

2025.7.3 NPS Issues Warning After Ndiang’ui Kinyagia Resurfaced

The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a statement following the resurfacing of Ndiang’ui Kinyagia after days of speculation surrounding his whereabouts.

In a statement on Thursday, July 3, NPS noted that Kinyagia who was being sought by authorities is still a person of interest, and urged him to appear before the DCI Headquarters to record a statement.

“Ndiangui Kinyagia had been reported missing, and information circulating on social as well as mainstream media accused the Police Service of allegedly abducting him. Nonetheless, he remains a person of interest to the police and is hereby urged to present himself to the DCI Headquarters to record a statement,” the statement read.

NPS denied any involvement in Kinyagia’s disappearance and criticized what it described as a dangerous trend of staged abductions and misinformation.

“The Service reiterates its earlier response that Ndiangui Kinyagia was not in police custody. We take great exception to the emerging trend whereby individuals feign abduction and provide false information to the police, intending to generate a misleading narrative that exploits public outrage and sensational headlines, thereby distorting the truth rather than focusing on justice,” the statement added.

The NPS cautioned the public against spreading unverified claims and warned of consequences for those who deliberately provide false information to authorities.

“These criminal acts undermine the integrity of our law enforcement efforts, damage the reputation of the National Police Service, and cause anxiety to the public.

“The National Police Service wishes to remind the public that stage-managed abductions and providing false information to the police are criminal offences punishable by law. We therefore warn all persons against engaging in such acts,” the statement further read.

Earlier Thursday, Kinyagia’s family had confirmed that he is alive, safe, and ready to cooperate with authorities.

In a statement, family lawyer Wahome Thuku announced that Kinyagia made contact with his relatives on Tuesday evening and expressed his willingness to present himself to the DCI.

“Mr Ndiangui who went missing last week has contacted the family and that he is well, healthy and safe. Mr Ndiangui contacted a family member on Tuesday evening from an undisclosed location,” the statement reads.

Thuku disclosed that Kinyagia had been in hiding due to concerns for his personal safety after learning that DCI officers were going after him.

“Mr Ndiangui indicated to the family member that he had hidden temporarily for fear of his life upon learning that DCI officers were looking for him over unknown criminal allegations,” the statement continued.

2025.7.2 Suspected gangsters in custody after killing accomplice in dispute over stolen phone

Police are holding two suspected gangsters who allegedly stabbed and killed their accomplice during a fight over a mobile phone they had stolen in Eastleigh, Nairobi.

Abdifatah Abdirashid Abdulahi and Abdirahman Mahamud Noor are in custody at Pangani Police Station, where the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is probing a case of murder contrary to Section 203 as read with Section 204 of the Penal Code. They are accused of killing Bashir Omar, alias Kwachacha.

The deceased succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Nairobi East Hospital, having sustained stab wounds during the altercation with the two suspects.

Detective Constable Suleiman Mwatajiri obtained orders from the Makadara Law Courts to detain the two suspects for 21 days to allow for investigations.

In an affidavit filed in court, Mwatajiri stated that the incident was reported at Eastleigh North Police Station on June 26 by the deceased’s father, Hassan Omar, and was booked in the Occurrence Book (OB) under reference number 12/26/6/2025.

“Police officers rushed to the scene and established that the deceased had been stabbed by a fellow gang member during a disagreement over a mobile phone they had snatched from a member of the public. He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival,” Mwatajiri said.

“Preliminary investigations led to the arrest of Abdifatah and Abdirahman on June 27, 2025 at Riverside Lodge in Eastleigh. They were initially held at Eastleigh North Police Station before being transferred to Pangani Police Station under OB reference 116/27/06/2025.”

Mwatajiri added that another suspect, identified as Mohamed alias Moha Silver and linked to the murder, was arrested in Kakuma, Turkana County, while attempting to flee to Uganda.

The detective noted that investigations are still ongoing, with several crucial areas yet to be covered. These include interrogating the suspects and recording their statements, taking statements from prosecution witnesses, and submitting the recovered mobile phones to the forensic lab at DCI headquarters for analysis.

Other pending steps include transferring the suspect detained at Kakuma Police Station, tracing other gang members who are still at large, recovering the murder weapon, and retrieving CCTV footage from the crime scene.

Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe granted the detention orders.

The case will be mentioned on July 21, by which time the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is expected to have reviewed the investigation file and made a decision.
